Previously we talked about what is the study of psychology, but now lets explain what science is: Science is a method by which we can get or get close to the truth with a systematic methodology based on evidence….. Yes, a very philosophical explanation.
Science is not about what I think, what I suppose, what I interpret; is neither about what a social group thinks, or believes, science is to get a real approach for real results… on its best!
So we need science investigation and results, because we need to feed up our curiosity, we need real facts so then we can get KNOWLEDGE which through science it becomes powerful and reliable, and knowledge is a very potent tool for our wellbeing!
So, lets use science to get answers….. what is to be a women? Are women more prone to depression or anxiety? Are women more tender and caring? Is our brain different from men? Our hormones determines our behavior? What kind of stereotypes we fulfil? Are we more intelligent than men, or our intelligence is different? Are we capable to do same things as men, as decision making, sports, math, or organization? Do we perceive the same? How do we handle aggressiveness? How do we flirt and read the signs of flirting? What do men look in women when flirting? What do we look in a man to have a partner? Are we the same, do we approach sex the same? Does genetic influence behaviour?
So far in science we are understanding several differences, and getting some answers for this and many other questions.
This differences are seen from different areas, 1.- From the social behaviour and education; 2.- From the physical body, as hormones and 3.- From the functions of the brain.
Socially, women are raised as tender, feminine, in a calm way, use skirts, long hair and ear rings, dress pink, play with dolls, to mention generals.
The physical body is smaller, not too muscular, with wrist, more buttocks and breasts.
Some findings show that women can understand language, as we all do in the left hemisphere, but give an extra poetic and artistic interpretation with the right hemisphere. So it is not that we are complicated, is just that we use both hemispheres!
So yes, we are different, but this difference makes us more interesting in all our relationships. Have you ever think about it? Do you have any thoughts? Feel free to share your thinking with us.
Next post we will talk about all of these topics and more, with movies, book and sites suggestions.
